EduCare's new training course - welcomed by the Minister for Children

EduCare's new online training course on Honour-Based Abuse and Forced Marriage has been welcomed by Nadhim Zahawi MP.

He commented:

“If we are to tackle honour-based abuse, it is important that practitioners understand the issue, know what to look out for and how to respond. I therefore welcome the launch of this online course.”

Written by experts

The course has been written in partnership with Karma Nirvana, a charity that supports victims of honour-based abuse and forced marriage.

Jasvinder Sanghera CBE, is the founder of Karma Nirvana and British-born survivor of forced marriage and honour-based abuse. Speaking about the course, she commented:

“Training is key. Teachers need to feel confident, supported, and empowered in order to effectively help students that might be affected by honour-based abuse and EduCare’s expertise in safeguarding training made them the perfect partners for the development of this course."

Raising Awareness of Honour-Based Abuse and Forced Marriage

The new course costs £18.50 exc VAT and can be bought via EduCare’s online shop.

The launch of the new course coincided with the opening of a government consultation on a mandatory reporting duty for forced marriage for teachers and health and care professionals. Because of this, and because it is such an important safeguarding issue, EduCare has added the course to our comprehensive safeguarding training packages at no extra cost.
