According to an article in International Teacher Magazine, International School leaders face particular difficulties when it comes to Child Protection.

The article highlights that whilst there are no statistics available which detail abuse by teachers in international schools, the ease of mobility that international teaching provides, coupled with weak recruitment practices, and underdeveloped legal systems in some countries, can make such schools prime targets for child abusers. The article interviewed the Council of International Schools (CIS) Executive Director Jane Larsson who went on to comment “We are now encouraging multiple organizations and individuals to offer training for international schools, knowing that the need is so great. As we’ve become more knowledgeable about the prevalence and signs of child abuse, we realise that everyone needs to develop understanding and participate in training."

As the UK’s leading provider of safeguarding and duty of care training, our presence in the International Schools sector has grown considerably because of this very need.
