Preventing Bullying – our course has now been updated

The DfE have recently updated their guidance on preventing bullying; whilst the subject of bullying is not a new one, the types of bullying and the advice for dealing with both bullies and their victims changes with developments in technology and shifting cultural attitudes.

As the UK’s leading provider of Safeguarding and Duty of Care training, we continually update and refresh our course content. Our partner, leading anti-bullying charity Kidscape, has co-written the recent update to our ‘Preventing Bullying’ training course.

What’s changed?

We have broadened and deepened the current course and enhanced key areas. The updated course includes:

  • information on the laws that apply to bullying and how it should be addressed, such as The Education and Inspections Act 2006 and The Equality Act 2010
  • advice on how to distinguish between bullying and banter
  • further advice on bullying as a group behaviour, giving information on a number of roles that people play within a bullying dynamic
  • updated ways of dealing with bullying behaviour
  • additional information on bullying outside school premises, including dealing with cyberbullying incidents
  • guidance for working with parents and guardians.

Speaking of the new course, Lauren Seager-Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Kidscape commented: “I am delighted to extend our relationship with EduCare and co-author the updates to this essential online training course. We all have a role to play in helping to prevent bullying and this course gives guidance and advice to all people who work with children and young people.”

Bernadette Sixsmith, Head of Course Development for EduCare, added: “The quality of our courses is very important to us and we ensure that content is regularly renewed and refreshed. This helps our customers to ensure they can always access the latest statutory guidance as well as remain interested and engaged with their learning.”
