Peer on Peer Abuse and Contextual Safeguarding

Peer-on-Peer Abuse

Be prepared for the update to KCSIE

The updated DfE statutory guidance includes a more detailed explanation of the ways in which peer-on-peer abuse can manifest itself, and requires all staff, and particularly Designated Safeguarding Leads, to take a contextual safeguarding approach to peer-on-peer abuse. The new Part 5 is there to provide guidance for schools and colleges on how they should respond to reports of child on child sexual violence and sexual harassment.

This shows the importance that the DfE are placing on peer-on-peer abuse.
