Children missing education (CME): New report from the National Children's Bureau

The National Children's Bureau (NCB) has compiled a report based on a Freedom of Information Request completed by 137 local authorities in England which was released on 31st January 2018.

They found that nearly 50,000 children were reported as missing education in 2016/17.

Our Pastoral Care Expert, Dawn Jotham, commented on the issue: "CME is a very big concern. Children missing education are often vulnerable can be easily targeted for exploitation and are more likely to get involved in drugs. The problem of reporting can become problematic if you are working across county boundaries".

EduCare is working with leading education law experts, ACE Education on a new training course that will help in the understanding of current laws and issues relating to school attendance.
