Scottish childminders love online learning

Last year, when EduCare and the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) introduced online learning for the very first time to SCMA members, no-one knew exactly how they would respond. The sheer volume of registrations for the four introductory courses showed that they love it for its convenience and flexibility.

Building on its success, EduCare and the SCMA have now added another four courses to make a total of eight in the learning bank.

The new courses are:

  • “Let’s be friends” – Preventing Bullying
  • Successful Learners, Confident Children
  • Developing Children’s Self-Esteem
  • Promoting Equality and Diversity with Children

The courses complement the SCMA’s taught workshops and aim to embed good practice amongst SCMA childminding members. Many members live in very rural areas, so getting to workshops can be difficult. This is a convenient way for them to learn and ensue they don’t miss out on important practice issues.

The SCMA say: “The response from our members has been marvellous. They really appreciate all the courses and we are delighted that we have been able to offer them this new flexible way of learning.

“The EduCare learning management system is very easy-to-use, making it an ideal way for our members to learn with SCMA, understand Scottish government guidance and contribute to their continuing professional development.”

More new courses are in the pipeline!
