This course gives examples of each of the three characteristics of effective teaching and learning described in the Early Years Foundation Stage (2017) with questions that should prompt you to reflect on how children learn, rather than just on what they learn.
The aim of this course is to:
- Introduce the three characteristics of effective teaching and learning:
- playing and exploring
- active learning
- creating and critical thinking
- Help you to understand why the characteristics of effective teaching and learning are so important
- Explain why observing the context of children’s play is essential to help you plan activities effectively
- Emphasise that how children learn is as important as what they learn
