What programmes would you like to see EduCare produce next? MORE »

Written by the NSPCC, this EduCare programme is aimed at anyone who comes into contact with children through their work in an educational setting. It breaks down the complexities of child abuse and gives you essential information, such as what abuse is, the different types of abuse, identifying possible signs and indicators of abuse and what to do should you suspect a child is being maltreated.
This programme is delivered in four concise modules with questionnaires to test understanding and is available either paper-based or online. On successful completion, participants are awarded a personalised NSPCC EduCare certificate.
Module 1 – Understanding the basics
Learn about the different types of abuse – physical, sexual, emotional neglect & bullying; the effects abuse can have on a child’s life; myths and facts about child abuse and managing your own feelings.
Module 2 – Recognising child abuse
Discover how to identify possible signs of abuse; respond if a child confides in you and act if you suspect a child is being maltreated.
Module 3 – Reporting child abuse
Understand the importance of taking action and what action you should take; dealing with the parents; what happens when you report a problem and the child protection register.
Module 4 – Working together
Learn about the legal framework, key definitions and duty; your school’s responsibilities and preventing allegations against staff.
If you answer 70% of the answers correctly within each questionnaire you will receive a personalised NSPCC EduCare certificate, feedback detailing your scores for each module and a set of answer explanations.
