Recent research has shown that up to 530,000 individuals believed they were experiencing work related stress resulting in ill health in 2006-2007. This accounts for more than 13 million reported lost working days per year in Britain. People in the UK work the longest hours in Europe and this has implications on our stress levels, and how we deal with them. Due to the nature of working life in Britain, people move in and out of stress constantly, and there is the likelihood that even if you are not stressed yourself, you are surrounded by others that are.
This EduCare programme, written by Samaritans, is designed to help those who experience stress in two ways: for people who encounter high levels of stress in their workplace themselves, and also for those who try to offer support for those around them who are suffering from high levels of stress. It raises awareness of the symptoms of stress in yourself and how to alleviate them, and how to support colleagues suffering from stress.
This programme is delivered in four short modules with questionnaires to test understanding. On successful completion, participants are awarded a personalised EduCare certificate.
