Such were the words bellowing out from the Kop yesterday, as the final whistle blew and Steven Gerrard was faced with the realisation that he is only four games away from winning his first Premier League title with Liverpool.

The tears painted a picture of a man clearly overcome with emotion as his side delivered another sensational blow in the title race, beating Manchester City 3-2 at Anfield. Gerrard has already won the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup in a glittering one-club career, but ask any professional footballer and they will tell you that a league medal truly is pride of place in their trophy cabinet.

England captain Gerrard knows the next month is the biggest of his career as the Reds play "four cup finals" in their attempt to win a first English league title in 24 years. Their game against Chelsea (currently sitting in second place) is set up beautifully. But if there's any man to inspire his team, Gerrard is he – you only have to watch his performances in their comeback to win the Champions League finalthe FA Cup win against West Ham, and his goal against Olympiakos in their 2004/05 European campaign.

He has single-handedly carried the club for over ten years, through the highs of 2005 and the lows of 2010; and, if not for free-scoring teammate Luis Suárez, would have been awarded the Footballer of the Year award weeks ago. But Gerrard knows that you have never won a title until you have the medal in your hand, and this is the perfect mentality that has won Liverpool their last ten league matches and should set them on course for their first title since 1990.

"Exactly the same. We go to Norwich together. Come on" were the words roared by a tearful Gerrard to his teammates in their post-match huddle yesterday. With their captain's intense desire to win a first Premier League medal and the Anfield faithful providing an electric backdrop to a fairy-tale season, Gerrard, his club and their fans alike can dare to dream.
